Updates from the Co-op
- Top Shopper Reward Program – NEW!by gruckerwi
In 2025, the Co-op board members instituted a program to express our gratitude for those who shop most frequently at RMC. Every quarter, we generate a list of gross sale amounts by co-op member. We then contact the top ten shoppers for that quarter to thank them for being loyal and frequent shoppers at our unique neighborhood store. To show our appreciation we award them store credit amounting to 0.5% of what they spent the previous three months. To date we’ve granted, on average, $100 in credit total each quarter. Many of these shoppers email back to note how convenient it is to shop at the co-op.
Our program can only include rewarding the top ten shoppers, but we’re aware that many more depend on the convenience of the co-op. One new co-op member, who recently moved to the neighborhood, remarked, “I know it’s a little store but I can get everything I need to make dinner the same night.”
We board members are so very grateful for those who make the co-op an essential stop in their shopping, and we are happy to recognize their loyalty in this small way. We send a heartfelt thank you to those who continue to “Shop the Co-op”!

- Winter & Holiday Hoursby gruckerwi
As a member-owned store, we strive to make our hours as convenient as possible for members and work with our staff to stay open on days like Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day.
For the upcoming holiday period, we’ll be open every day except Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Please see below for exact hours.
The Co-op’s regular hours during the the winter months December through February will be 8 AM – 8 PM (rather than the usual 9 PM). From the store manager: “As it gets so dark so early these months we tend to slow down a bit that last hour. Closing at 8 PM will cut our cost and help us with staffing as well. As always, Thank you so much for your support, as the Co-op would not survive without it!”
Holiday hours 2025:
December 24 • 8 AM – 3 PM
December 25 • Closed
December 31 • 8 AM -9 PM
January 1 • 11 AM – 9 PM

- Fresh Thanksgiving turkeys available at the Co-opby gruckerwi
For over a decade, the Regent Market Co-op has offered fresh turkeys for sale in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. The Amish Pride turkeys are sourced through UW Provision, a well-known, local meat distributor who works with local businesses to provide “real meat.”
The turkeys are delivered fresh and kept refrigerated until customers pick them up. A major plus of getting a fresh, unfrozen turkey is that there’s no thaw time! (Frozen turkeys take 24 hours per 4-5 lbs to thaw in the fridge.)
To reserve a bird in the size you want, call the Co-op today at 608-233-4329 or stop by in person. While turkeys can be purchased and picked up in-store through Thanksgiving Day, not all sizes will be in stock (unless you’ve reserved one). Sizes 8 – 20 lbs are currently available — the larger 20-24 lbs turkeys are sold out.
In past years, the Amish Pride turkeys have been $3.99/lb. Due to rising prices all around, the Co-op expects a slightly higher per pound price, but still within that range.
And to round out a FULLY LOCAL FEAST — pick up locally grown potatoes, apples, carrots; baked goods; drinks; and more. The Co-op carries all of these items, sourced from local vendors and farmers. Happy holidays!
The Co-op is open on Thanksgiving Day from 8 AM – 3 PM.

- Hello from the Co-op Boardby jordantcob
My name is Jordan, and I serve as president of our Co-op board. We want to help members better understand how the Co-op operates—how the GM manages the store and how the board provides guidance and support. To do that, we’re working on clearer communication about the “why, what, and how” of the store.
We’ve recently updated our documentation, website, and internal systems. On the website, you’ll now find links to our History, Mission Statement, Store Principles, and Motto. You can also access our ByLaws, Board Policies, and meeting materials from both monthly board meetings and our annual member meeting.
You can explore these here: regentmarketcoop.com/about
Below, I’ve included our Mission, Principles, and Motto page for quick reference. As a board, we’ll be aiming to put these principles in practice and refer to them often. Let us know if you have questions or comments (e-mail the board)
Our Mission:
The Regent Market Co-op is dedicated to meeting the needs of shoppers from our local neighborhoods. Maintaining the charm and personal attention of a neighborhood grocery store, the Co-op is committed to operating on a sound financial basis so as to continue to be a reliable source of a wide selection of products for our members and other customers.
Our Principles
- Recognize the importance of buying locally grown/produced products by continuing to support local growers and producers as proud members of the Dane Buy Local Initiative
- Maintain and practice cooperative principles by continuing strong advisory and reciprocal relationships with other Madison-area grocery cooperatives
- Encourage members to support the RMC by shopping weekly.
- Encourage feedback and suggestions on how RMC can better serve its members and other customers
- Remain connected to RMC members through multiple communication channels, including in-store notices, email newsletters, and updates to RMC web locations
- Prioritize collaboration with proximal businesses, as the Regent and Allen business district is vital to the community and important to the success of the RMC
- Aim to be a community hub by offering draft beer, hand-dipped ice cream, food truck collaborations, and yearly membership events, fostering familiarity and fondness for the store as a meeting space
- Continue to improve our decision-making by making full use of our point-of-sale system (COPOS) for sales management, inventory management, and profitability management.
Our Motto:
Locally grown, Neighborhood owned
